Flugmeeting Emmen

With an excellent airshow Switzerland celebrated his 100 anniversary of aviation - a milestone in Swiss history. The "Flugmeeting Emmen", a century after the first flights in Switzerland, was held at Emmen (near Luzern) on 24 July 2010. More than 45.000 spectators joined the Airbase despite the horrible weather conditions. Very much rain before midday, cold temperatures, darkened sky and difficult flying conditions - just unseasonably for an summer month.
Nevertheless an attractive static but principally flying display, covering the complete range of aeronautics, was presented. Interesting to mention that just Swiss participants (or by Swiss money payed Breitlings) were flying at the show. The main part of the show was filled by the Swiss Air Force (SAF). Certainly you could enjoy the SAF Demo Teams (PC-7 Team, Patrouile Suisse, Super Puma, F/A-18) but as well all current SAF types in service (PC-21, PC-6, AlouetteIII, EC635, Tiger). In addition to this a large amount of historical airplanes performed beautiful displays over the Patrouille Suisse homebase.
The true highlights of the show were the unique vintage or Swiss patriotically formations like a Hunter four-ship + Mirage III, 3 x Hunters, the last nine flying Alouette III, PS + Swiss Air Airbus A330 or the formation of the SAF Demo Teams (PS+PC7+F18). More then 8 hours flying display ended with the Flying Bulls DC-6 in front of the show´s magnificent backdrop of the Swiss mountains.

There is no more else to say then: JUST AWESOME!
Our big respect to all the pilots who flew at this weather conditions and the organisation of the show. Arrival by bus transfer, catering, schedule - all was perfect.
